Ingredients :
500 g. of spaghetti
500 g. of ground sirloin
2 tbsps. of finely minced garlic
2 onions, finely chopped
4 tomatoes, finely chopped
1 carrot, finely chopped
2 bell peppers, cored, seeded and finely chopped
6 regular hotdogs, sliced into rings
4 c. of sweet-style spaghetti sauce
4 tbsps. of olive oil
salt and pepper to taste
1 bay leaf
1 tbsp. of butter
grated cheese
Cooking procedure :
Cook the spaghetti according to package directions. Drain and toss with butter.
Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan. Add the ground beef. Cook over high heat until the meat is no longer pink. Add the garlic, onions, tomatoes, bell peppers, carrot and bay leaf. Season with salt and pepper. Pour in about a cup and a half of water and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the mixture is almost dry and the vegetables are cooked to a pulp. Turn up the heat, add the sliced hotdogs and cook, stirring for about a minute. Pour in the spaghetti sauce and bring to a soft boil. Adjust the seasonings. Lower the heat, cover and simmer for another 5-7 minutes.
Serve the pasta and sauce separately (make your own dish–more exciting but messier when kids do it) or toss the pasta with the sauce.
Serve with grated cheese on the side.

hello, i was browsing around the internet for some filipino recipes and i’m really thankful that i ended up at this site. Thanks so much i will definitely try most of the recipes. I find that some of them are very unique and that is just what i’ve been looking for. =)
i used mushroom and tomato sauces for this recipe due to no sweet style spag sauce here in KL and just added sugar and milk and it was fantastic! my hubby and his friends had second servings! i really want to thank you ms connie for this amazing site (i have become dependent on it ever since i got married =) and i always recommend pinoycook.net to my friends and family. more power!
I just wanted to let you know I tried your spaghetti recipe last night. Brought me back so many memories from the spaghetti I enjoyed as a child. (all the chopping for my inexperienced hands took a loooong time though haha). It was a hit with my brother, and with Woody, but our American guests unfortunately preferred the unsweetened version.
You’re absolutely right though, the sugar counteracts the acidity of the tomatoes. I used brown cane sugar cause we have no sweet-style spag sauce here. Sarap!
Oh and if you were wondering what happened to the baked macaroni I was planning to cook, I errr, tried something I thought would be easier to make.
True, pinayhekmi, only Pinoys seem to be fond of sweet-style pasta. Works well for hyperacidic people like me and my younger daughter though.
masarap ang klase ng spaghetti na ‘to, wala nang sasarap pa sa filipino spaghetti.
hello
i just love your site..good thing meron kayong clssic spag kasi we are about to make spag today for my anak and pamagkin . thank you and more power!!!
Thnx 4 the spaghetti recipe. Fr seattle boy
i had an experience with a ground beef request in a big supermarket. as i am also wary of the “real” cut of beef in ground beef, i requested for sirloin to be grounded right on the spot. they would not give in to the request unless i buy 5 kgs. so, not having enough budget for 5 kgs of ground beef, i had to settle for what they claim to be sirloin ground beef in the counter. too bad for me huh?!
Is there a recipe for the sweet style spaghetti sauce? I haven’t seen this pre-made sauce anywhere. Thanks!
hi i tried this recipe and they are like it
well there are some changes that i made.. like i dont have bell peppers in the fridge.. and i dont have carrots too so i just put some sugar instead.. and then pff it turned good and my father - in - law and my hubby is white and they liked it! : ) Thanks! and o btw this is the first time i cooked spaghetti in my whole life.. haha

do you have a recipe for the sweet-style spaghetti sauce?
wala kasing canned na ganun dito eh.
Thanks for sharing your cooking skills. I noticed that you do your cooking from scratch. That’s very good because I don’t like using ready mixes although they are sometimes good in some cases especially here in the US when time seem to be a lot faster than in Phils.
