Lasang Pinoy 24 :

Polvoron

Lasang Pinoy 15 (回收,再装!)
Hmmm… The term omelet is Continental but we do have our traditional version where chopped garlic, onions and tomatoes are stirred into the beaten eggs before pouring into the hot oil. What the heck am I talking about? Well, I’m talking about the dishes that I am featuring for Lasang Pinoy 15: Recycled, Reloaded!. Why am I including the Chinese-style fried rice and salad recipes? Because the way I understood the theme, it is not so much about traditional Filipino food but about the ingenuity of the Filipinos to make use of leftover food and to recycle them into great dishes.

Lasang Pinoy 12 (fusion cooking ): sauteed mongo sprouts and asparagus with oyster sauce
So, we take the humble togue guisado and transform it. But this dish is really more than just about fusion cooking. This is about pacifying two bickering adolescents. My 13-year-old daughter Sam wanted an asparagus dish for dinner last Sunday while 12-year-old Alex wanted togue (mongo or mung bean sprouts). In fact, they had been arguing since the night before when we were in the supermarket and choosing what vegetables we would cook for the next couple of days. So I combined the vegetables they wanted to eat. Sam even had an extra plate of asparagus all to herself.

Lasang Pinoy 12: fusion cooking and my beef tapa sandwich
When I read from Ces’ food blog that it’s going to be fusion cooking for the 12th edition of Lasang Pinoy, I got overly excited. This is my passion–turning traditional, often boring, recipes into dishes that are more today. I started digging into my archives to find out which of my previously posted recipes would be worth including in this post. There are so many but I chose… three to represent three categories of Filipino dishes: rice, meat and desserts…
In addition to that, I present a wonderful new way to serve the classic beef tapa–as a sandwich. ![]()

Lasang Pinoy 9: offal in Filipino dishes
The roundup for Lasang Pinoy 9: Lamang-loob: Odd cuts and guts is already up. I was able to squeeze in a few minutes of bloghopping last night and a visit to JMom’s reminded me I am late once more with my Lasang Pinoy entry. Without much ado, my entry is a kind of summary of previous recipes I have posted using offal or internal organs…

Lasang Pinoy 8: mocha latte and choco latte
I know I’m done posting my entry for Lasang Pinoy 8 but my kids took turns making mocha latte and choco latte earlier tonight and… why waste such a wonderful story? Because it really was quite a story–I ended up drinking one tall glass of mocha latte and two short glasses of choco latte. How could I say no after all their effort, eh? Of course, after that, I swore I won’t eat a thing tomorrow. ![]()
