Multi-grain bread and pesto cheese spread
Uncle George’s multi-grain bread is great with pork afritada or, if you want a light meal, try it with Pesto Cheese Spread… my new Cheez Whiz.

Dairy Queen’s Waffle Treat
I’ve said it before — I’m not big on ice cream. I find it boring. UNLESS… Look at it this way. Ice cream, by itself, means one flavor and one texture. But… add some nuts, syrup, fudge, crushed fruit and whipped cream and, suddenly, the old boring ice cream becomes utterly exciting. So, there I was was thinking of getting a single scoop of ice cream in a cone until I saw the latest item in Dairy Queen’s menu — the Waffle Treat.

Mixed herbs, pork steaks and oven-fried potato chips
Sunday is daddy-in-the-kitchen day. Otherwise, we eat out. Not last night though. My hubby cooked pork steaks and I made a side dish of oven-fried potato chips.
Both the potato chips and the pork steaks were seasoned with mixed dried herbs that I discovered at the supermarket a couple of weeks ago.

Tamtanco’s ube and Good Shepherd’s strawberry jam

Tikoy is someting I will forever associate with my late paternal grandfather. No, he wasn’t Chinese but he had this love affair with Chinese food and cuisine. It was from him that I learned the rudiments of siomai-making. He was very fond of tikoy. When I was a kid and celebrating the Chinese New Year [...]

Vinaigrette as a dipping sauce
Sometime between Christmas and New Year, my husband and I went to the SM Megamall Trade Hall where there was Christmas gift bazaar. There was a food stall selling tocino, tapa, longganisa and hotdogs. There were cooked samples and after trying the tocino and hotdogs, we were impressed enough to buy a couple of kilos. [...]

Bangus sisig and daing na galunggong
It was during my birthday dinner last year when I first experienced bangus (milkfish) sisig. Sisig is, of course, traditionally a pork dish made with grilled and chopped pork ears and face and served sizzling on a hot plate. So, you can just imagine my delight when three kinds of sisig were served, one of [...]
