Mushroomburger
With my kids, it’s a sin to go to Tagaytay City and not eat at Mushroomburger. I don’t get too excited about Mushroomburger anymore. When I was working in Makati, there was a Mushroomburger within walking distance from our office building and I’ve had my fill of Mushroomburgers then. But for the kids, who only get to experience Mushroomburger on trips to Tagaytay, it’s a treat.
It’s a landmark along the National Highway in Tagaytay. Mushroomburger has, ummm… burgers, spaghetti, salads and rice toppings. There used to be a soft ice cream machine but it was out of commission on our last few visits. Fresh and dried mushrooms (oyster, shiitake, abalone, wood ears) and local delicacies are sold on one side of the counter.
There’s a branch along Timog Avenue in Quezon City and we’ve been there, but… well, it’s not the same. Mushroomburger isn’t just about food; it’s an experience. Part of that experience is the cool air of Tagaytay, the flower stalls along the road, a view of Taal volcano… well, you just don’t get any of those in Quezon City.
