Pepperoni and cheese stuffed bread rolls

Sometimes, you dream up of something that’s great for a meal for one and, at the same time, pretty enough and easy enough to prepare for a party.

Pepperoni and cheese stuffed bread rolls

What are they? They are what the title says — pepperoni and cheese stuffed bread rolls. Served warm, the cheese is soft and gooey and every bite bursts with the mixed flavors of the pepperoni and cheese.

To make them, cut off the crusts of sliced (loaf) bread. Flatten the crustless bread with a rolling pin.

Arrange a few slices of pepperoni (three is a good number) across the middle of each bread and top with a generous strip of cheese.

Roll up the bread, dip in beaten egg and fry in plenty of hot oil.

Remove the fried bread from the oil, drain on several layers of absorbent paper towels and cut into one to two-inch slices. Serve at once.

peterb, the breadcrumbs absorb too much oil, don’t they? and they brown too fast.

    Gaby, sinfully delicious.

Hi Ms. Connie, I’m Jewel, a writer for Working Mom Magazine. We’re doing a feature on the favorite caterers of foodies for their holiday parties. Do you ever have your parties catered? If yes, who do you call on and what’s your fave dish from the caterer? Hope to hear from you through email. Thanks!

connie, looks good and easy to make. pwede bang ham or bacon instead of pepperoni (to make it more sinful).haha! i’ve tasted something similar to this sa dulcinea before, its called Bocaditos. sarap ng crust nya, heard of it?

  6. Connie on September 24th, 2007 8:52 pm

Taj, yes, you can use other meat. But if using bacon, it has to be cooked bacon. No, am not familiar with Bocaditos although I used to get a Dulcinea fix when I was pregnant with my firstborn. :)

connie, yeah it does absorb a lot of oil. i also use a very low fire to cook it to avoid burning it. i like using it because it adds crunch to the bread. though i must confess, i haven’t tried cooking without it.

taj, in the similar thing i do, i’ve tried using ham, chicken, cheese even crabsticks. i know some people who even use asparagus and cheese.

i’ve tried this recipe and i’ve put mustard cream before the ham and cheese. and it gives a zest on its taste! yummy! and instead of bread crumps, i used finely crushed skyflakes.

AFTER YOU FLATTEN THE BREAD, SPREAD PIZZA SAUCE ON BREAD THEN PUT TOPPINGS (your choice), ROLL, DIP IN BEATEN EGG, ROLL IN BREAD CRUMBS THEN FRY! (use class A breadcrumbs para hindi matigas) TRY THIS! so yummy! use hot pizza sauce to add taste.

I just made this last night for my boyfriend and he LOVES it!!

I made some changes though cause some of the ingredients aren’t as easy to find here as in the Philippines.. And I added crushed cornflakes with parmesan instead of breadcrumbs (or no crumbs at all^^)

Thanks so much! I’ll definitely be doing this often!!
