Pho Bac Vietnamese Restaurant

Filed under Food trips & events
October 1, 2006 was the fourth day we had no electricity after typhoon Milenyo hit the country on Thursday, September 28th. I had a deadline to meet so we went to Robinson’s Galleria, the only mall in the metropolis with free wifi internet. But before I started writing my op-ed column, we had a late lunch at Pho Bac Vietnamese Restaurant on the fourth floor. In the photo is the interior of the restaurant and that’s my husband, nagpapa-cute for the photo. hehehe
It wasn’t our first Pho Bac experience. We used to be regulars at the Glorietta branch until we moved to the suburb. I love Vietnamese food, especially the noodle soups. I like the light clear broth and the flat rice noodles that go into them. So similar and, at the same time, so different from Chinese noodle soups.
What did we have last Sunday? Click here.

there’s a pinay who’s a regular over at Karl Edwards food stalls and Salcedo market who sells Vietnamese food fare like fresh spring rolls, pho noodles and pandan kutsinta….sarap
googled pho- pronounced “phir” pala
you know, i’ve never been to the salcedo market. kasi naman saturday is not a FREE day for me. i wish they’d extend it to sundays.
I’m a regular at Pho Hoa but I’ve never tried Pho Bac. There’s a new and huge Pho Hoa at the basement of Robinson’s Galleria East Wing, right beside the Compass Internet station. Needless to say, it has the strongest wi-fi signal in the whole mall and is the perfect spot for beating a deadline.
The crew was attentive, there was a power source under the table (the waiter smilingly allowed me to recharge my laptop when I asked for permission), the food was good and healthy… except that they have been out of mint leaves for three days because Milenyo ruined the plantation.
Boo… pho without mint leaves is like crispy pata without balat.
…basta make time- you won’t regret it- bring your appetite, nandun lahat ng matatakaw este foodies para p.c.
I love Pho bac! I like the steamed spring rolls and cold noodles
